Device Independent Search

Background
A major Telecommunications partner was experiencing problems when delivering content from multiple sources to a wide range of different devices. The proliferation of different devices, hand sets, smart phones, PDAs etc. was generating enormous confusion and cost whilst proving the end user with a poor user experience.
The Contraco team was employed to find a solution that would lower costs, improve end user satisfaction and provide a platform that would cater to current requirements and future demands.

Analysis and Team Work
After the initial analysis, it was apparent that a single cross platform paradigm delivering consistent high quality content through a search solution would meet the core requirements and provide much needed solution flexibility.
Contraco developed a technology platform which allowed the content in question to be repurposed appropriately based on the source of the incoming request. For example PDAs would offer more content and perhaps in color, whereas smaller hand sets would return a simpler result.

Results and Next Steps
The product was deployed successfully over a short period of time each supported device returning content optimized for the equipment. The end users ability to easily access results and premium content such as ring tones, lead to an explosion of traffic and revenue. They are currently trafficking approximately one million queries per device per month.
